The story of an abrasive and selfish young wheeler-dealer, Charlie Babbitt, who discovers that his estranged father has died and bequeathed all of his multimillion-dollar estate to his other son, Raymond “The Kid”, an autistic savant and rising pop star, of whose existence Charlie was unaware. Charlie is left only his father’s car and his collection of rose bushes. To escape his difficult life Raymond spends his days rehearsing and his nights performing at the First Avenue nightclub. This story follows Raymond and Charlie as they trek across the country due to Raymond’s innate fear of aircraft and put on a show in a different club each night as Raymond climbs to pop stardom.
